| II Peter 3:8 (NASB) "But do not let this one fact escape your notice, (U)beloved, that with the Lord one day is like a thousand years, and (V)a thousand years like one day."
Ok, so maybe that's a lame excuse for not writing for almost 6 months, but seriously, it does feel like just the other day that I posted that last entry. So here I am again, and this time I actually have a little bit to tell. Since June I have: - Gone to Costa Rica to join my family for the Dedication of the Bribri New Testament!!! Hallelujia, Praise God! He is good and Faithful, to bring all to His Glory.

- Committed to return to serve at New Hope Uganda in July of 2008. I will be serving as the construction manager for the new site at Kobwin, and any construction that will be occurring at Kasana. I should be heading out end of June and plan on doing a road trip all over the US to visit my compadres before jetting out.

- Gone on a fruitless hunting trip (deer, boar, anything that was legal to shoot), and manage to bury my 2-wheel drive truck while trying to do a little 4-wheelin'! Sorry, no camera, no pictures to document the humiliation!

- Test driven a 2008 Ford Mustang GT (sucker for a stupid advertising deal from the car show...I'll never walk onto new car dealership lot again). The driving was fun. Surprisingly, it felt a lot like Hans's '70 Stingray. American sports cars...huh...Choose European/Japanese if you can afford it. 1999 SL600 AMG if you ever get a chance....it goes really......fast and handles like a dream.
Kind of like an EVO VIII, but not quite as edgy, just solid. (karen)
- Observed the most popular America Professional Sport from 23 rows behind the wall. NASCAR is truly a cultural event that exemplifies with impeccable accuracy and precision why America is the way it is. Nothing like a bunch of drunk rednecks watching cars go around an oval at 170mph. Bring earplugs...I still don't know if their attempt to go international will be acclaimed or reviled. Hmmm...
I'll be in Colorado Springs for T-day. Yay Dangers!!! and hopefully get a chance to hit the slopes on saturday. Then for X-mas I get to see the fam in Portland, Oregon in their new home. We're going to spend some time working on insulating and waterproofing the crawlspace. Yay, I love working vacations. Sitting around is hard to do. Blessings one and all, and may the Lord bless you this holiday season with peace and joy. Thank and praise Him for all he has given and done for you!
| Hi. Hello... How ya doin'?
So. Maybe I could just take pictures of my work, and that would be pretty cool, for everybody who's interested in construction. Ok, maybe not. Um, we're pouring concrete tomorrow morning at 5am. YAY!!! We haven't been able to pour concrete lately, because of design changes, and I am having a hard time getting rebar to job in time to meet the schedule. In other words, work has been stressful for everyone lately. Not fun. The company picnic was pretty fun though. That was last sunday. All the South Florida jobs built boats out of construction materials from the jobsite. My team had the fastest boat. I'll post a video of it when I get a chance. ;)
Ok, enough about work. In other news, I'm living on Mark's boat now. The Community House went its separate ways end of April. It's a pretty sweet setup. Small, cozy, and simple, but one of the best chill pads I've ever lived in.
Church is still going great. Now I'm helping out with the kids on Wednesday nights. They are such a blast. We're studying Daniel. I'm starting Miami Chai Time on Thursdays, so if any of you all come through Miami, join me. :) Oh, and anybody coming back from Africa (HINT), I have a standing order for two kg's of loose leaf tea, and tea masala. :) Please pretty please.
I've begun to try my hand at learning Portuguese. Boa noitche. Tchau. The Piagetties just went to the north eastern part of Brazil, and as a result of God working in some amazing ways, there will be 3 home fellowships starting in an area that has little to no true gospel witness. The current vision for the area is church planting, bible school, street kid ministry, and ministry to abused women.
I love you all. Hey, what about a reunion in Florida, sometime when it's winter everywhere else but here? They have cheap flights down here.
| need I say more? | | |
| Turkey. 20+ pounds. 4 inch beard. Cause of death: 20 ga. Turkey Load. Pic's forthcoming. :)
Wild pig. 250lbs. Remington 700 chambered for .270. Hans missed. :(
Hmmmm....you know you're a missionary kid when you watch a national geographic special and can only think of how good that would taste fried.
Hmmmm....you know you're a redneck when you go out to eat in full camo and everybody congratulates you on your successful hunt. :)
Now I'm both. | | |
| I should be lamenting the time, and how it goes by. Only I'm to occupied to be concerned with such a constant occurence. So, fun random things to do. Go to weddings. I went to one in Texas. Good friend from Costa Rica, Ashleigh Smith (now a Horsley) finally got hitched. It was great. Got to catch up with lots of people that I hadn't seen in quite a while. Very encouraging to see what God is doing in their lives. Funnest part of the ceremony was them leaving. I should've gotten a picture...but the getaway vehicle was a late 90's Dodge pickup, with the 5.9L RT/ package. FREAKING AWESOME!!!!! Burned rubber and left a huge cloud of smoke. Talk about a getaway, Texas style. Props to ya Karen, your people know how leave in style! And of course that didn't give me ANY ideas for my wedding. ;) The rest of this month is also choke-full of fun and exciting things to do. I get to watch my first hockey game ever. Paintball on Saturday, and my first turkey hunt the weekend of the 23rd!!! Maybe I'll get a hog too while I'm at it. :) In other news, I found out we aren't allowed to do explosive demolition on my construction site.
No, I didn't blow anything up. I was reading the specifications book, and that was a line item in there...go figure, they always try to ruin all the fun. No really, i'll try to be more serious now...except that I don't feel like I have anything profound to say. So Forget it. I really just needed to post something. laters.
